For months, Water Works Park has been working on choosing a redesign plan and Tuesday night the winner in the international competition was selected out of 44 entries.

The design, by Sasaki Associates with RDG Planning & Design and Applied Ecological Services, focuses on maintaining the park’s natural setting but also offers new adventures like zip lining, paddle boarding, and plenty of paths for running and biking.

A big chunk of the land will be a floodplain in which the habitat will be restored. The plan also means visitors will have to leave their cars at the park’s entrance in order to keep the park as pedestrian friendly as possible.

Water Works say the redesign of the park will be completed with mostly private funds. There is no timeline on when the project is expected to be finished.
