Iowa cheerleaders are remembering one of their own with a special tribute during the Boy's State Basketball Tournament.

Seventeen-year-old Emily Averill was killed in a car crash last June.

Averill was from Fort Dodge, and a member of the All-State Cheerleading Squad.

The squad is performing at the state tournament several times Friday.

In Averill's honor they are wearing bright green hair bows with the words "joy" on the ribbon.

"Joy" is Averill's middle name.

The cheerleaders performed at half-time shows throughout Friday evening.
