Here’s a sentence few Hawkeye hoop fans expected to read: Andrew Brommer has gone viral. And with good reason. Click here

You were probably asleep when the Barnstormers won their season opener. It was after midnight when Iowa finished off the Spokane Shock in overtime, 69-63.  The Barnstormers home opener is Saturday night at the Well.

All eight Big 4 basketball teams are playing in the post-season. Monday night, the NCAA invited Iowa State to stay home and host Green Bay Saturday (Was there ever a doubt? Not unless the NCAA wanted an empty Hilton Coliseum, but the Cyclones earned their bid.), and Iowa is headed to South Bend to play Cal. Later, the WNIT picked Drake to play South Dakota, and the WBI matches UNI against Stephen F Austin. I had never heard of the WBI, but it’s cool everyone’s dancing.

Big Monday night for the Des Moines regional at Wells Fargo Arena next week. If #1 Baylor and Tennessee both win, the nation’s best player, Brittany Griner, and greatest coach, Pat Summitt, will both be in Iowa soon.

I’ll fill out several brackets. One at channel 13, one at KXnO, one at Fox 17, but I want to get a plug in for “Stump the Chumps”.  I’ve done it for years. It’s really easy to fill out, it’s free, and most importantly $1 for every entry goes to fight cancer right here in Iowa. This year Super Bowl winner Tyler Sash has joined us, so I guess it’s Stump the Chumps and Champ. $500 in gas to the winner and other prizes. Click here
