Des Moines’ city council will decide Monday night if it will raise sewer rates.

Council members take the final vote on a proposal raising rates 9-percent each year, starting July 1st.

That means the current sewer rate of $4.45 per 1,000 gallons would increase by nearly $2 over the next three years.

They’ll also consider increasing the storm water rate by 6-percent each year, starting July 1st. If approved, the current storm water rate of $8.84 would increase by more than $2 by July 2015.
