Gov. Terry Branstad is working to improve health in our state and he’s starting at the capitol complex.

The governor is partnering with Iowa Department of Public Health director Mariannette Miller-Meeks to change what is offered in the vending machines at 13 state buildings.

The new items will have color-coded markings to show the healthiest selections.

The governor says less healthy foods won't be removed from the machines, but he wants consumers to have healthier choices available.

In the governor's weekly news conference he said, “We are not the food police."
