A Des Moines man is in the Polk County Jail after police say he stabbed a woman several times.

Forty-two-year-old Frankie Johnson was arrested Monday morning. He is accused of stabbing 35-year-old Angela Parks seven times. Police say Parks was able to escape from Johnson and went to a neighbor’s home.

When officers arrived Johnson threatened to kill himself if they didn’t leave. Stun guns were used on Johnson when police forced their way into the home.

Parks is listed in fair condition at Mercy Medical Center.

Johnson is charged with assault-willful injury, violation of a no contact order, child endangerment and interference with official acts.
