The Iowa Board of Regents is being sued over the closure of the Malcom Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls.

A group of parents and teachers filed suit against the board Tuesday. It argues the board does not have the authority to shut down the school. The suit says only lawmakers have the power to close the school.

University of Northern Iowa president Ben Allen called for closing Malcolm Price Laboratory School to help the university save more than $5 million.

The board approved the closure last month and the school is set to close at the end of June.
