The group “Corporate Accountability International” says Mercy Medical Center is sending mixed messages when it comes to the food it provides.

They say the hospital should not allow McDonald’s on site.  It says by allowing the restaurant inside, the hospital is allowing patients to negate life saving measures they have performed there.

In a statement to the Des Moines Register, the hospital said the McDonald’s provides an alternative to visitors and family members.

The hospital signed a long-term lease with McDonald’s in 1988, but hospital leaders won’t say how long the lease is for.
