A loose dog is being blamed for a crash that sent a 15-year old Des Moines boy to the hospital Wednesday evening.

The teen was hit by a minivan shortly after 5:00 p.m. when he darted into traffic in the 2800 block of Hickman Avenue.

Police say the teen ran into the street fleeing a dog that escaped a nearby home.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Broadlawns Medical Center.

He’s listed in stable condition with a severe concussion.
