GABLE STATUE: University Honors A Legend

The Iowa Hawkeyes have 26 national championships in all sports, combined.

Dan Gable is responsible for 15 of them.

Gable has done a lot for the university, and Wednesday, the university gave something back.

They unveiled a statue of Gable.

How do you define a legend?

Those who know Dan Gable say you can’t.

As Gable watched his daughters pull the curtain back on his statue, even he and the man who sculpted it struggle to grasp its meaning.

More than the championships he won, gable says his legacy rests in family.
