Iowa veterans will be honored this summer with a parade in Des Moines.
Gov. Terry Branstad announced Monday that the “Salute to our Veterans and Service Members Parade” will be held in downtown Des Moines on Saturday, June 30th.
“It is important to honor our heroes here at home,” said Branstad. “As a former member of the Army, and now Commander in Chief of the Iowa National Guard, I am proud of the men and women that represent our state on the battlefields across the world and when disaster strikes here on the home front.”
Branstad wore his old Army uniform while making the announcement at his weekly news conference.
The parade will begin at the Statehouse and an end at Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.
Branstad said all veterans and service members will be paid tribute to during the parade.
