Gov. Terry Branstad is embarking on a South American trade trip this summer.

The governor will head to Brazil and Chile July 21st through the 28th. He's hoping to expand trade opportunities for Iowa companies and products.

Brazil is Iowa's 6th largest trading partner with exports over $527 million in 2011. Chile is the 19th largest export destination for Iowa products. The administration is working on its goal to increase trade opportunities by 20-percent.

“Trade missions like this one will help Iowa companies in expanding their markets outside of the U.S., which will lead to more jobs here at home,” said Gov. Branstad.

Any companies interested in participating in the trade trip must sign up by May 15th.
