MURDER SUICIDE: 911 Call Released

Officials have released the 911 call made in a murder-suicide in Jesup on March 21st.

In the call, 22-year-old Lindsay Nichols’ boyfriend Chase Weber describes Nichols’ arguing with a man outside his home in Jesup. Nichols had been followed by her ex-boyfriend 44-year-old Timothy Roses, who jumped out of his truck and argued with her, displaying a gun.

During the argument Roses shot Nichols in the chest. Roses then shot himself in the heart. Both died at the scene.

Buchanan County Attorney Shawn Harden says the gun Roses used, a 9-millimeter handgun, was obtained illegally and he is hoping federal prosecutors will take up charges against the seller. Roses did not have a permit for the gun in Iowa and was a resident of Texas. He allegedly bought the gun from a coworker in Waterloo.

Roses was a radiologist at Covenant Medical Center, where Nichols was studying radiography. They dated, but Nichols broke it off when she realized Roses wasn’t going to end his marriage.
