Three Des Moines elementary schools are planting gardens this spring.  Helpers built garden beds at Smouse Elementary on Tuesday.  In about a week the kids will get their hands dirty planting outside.

The school received a grant from the American Heart Association.  Teachers hope the gardens teach kids more about eating healthy.  Cowles and Captiol view also received grants to plant gardens this spring.
