A fire destroyed two senior housing apartments Friday evening in Ankeny.

It happened around 5:45 Friday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at Oakwood Terrace in Ankeny

When firefighters arrived they found a man lying in the lawn and the apartment was fully engulfed.

The victim wasn’t injured, he had just fallen on his way out of the apartment, and refused transport.

Two apartments were destroyed by the fire, but no one was injured.

The tenants that were forced from their homes were relocated to different units.

The cause is still under investigation but officials say it is not considered suspicious.
