INMATE SOUGHT: Work Release Prisoner Escapes

An inmate at the Fort Des Moines Work Release Facility has escaped.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says 21-year-old Darnell Lee was placed on escape status Thursday after n unexcused absence.

Lee is serving a six year sentence out of Polk County for willful injury causing bodily injury and assault on a peace officer. His sentence began in October of 2010.

Lee is a black male, five-foot-ten and 186 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. Officials say he has several tattoos.
