FATAL DROWNING: One Drowns In Des Moines River

Emergency crews responded to a boating accident on the Des Moines River Sunday night.

Two boats collided on the Des Moines River between second and sixth avenues, throwing people into the river.

Police confirmed one person died after being pulled from the river and two others were injured. 

The initial report by the Des Moines Register indicates a 10-month old baby and her grandfather were among those thrown into the water.

The baby was rescued and given to her parents. The grandfather was placed on a stretcher as paramedics attempted CPR.  He was transported to a hospital.
