SERVICE CHANGE: Newton Planned Parenthood Closing
Patients at Planned Parenthood in Newton will have to go much further to receive care.
Planned Parenthood of the Heartland announced Tuesday it is consolidating its Newton and Ankeny health centers. That means starting July 19th no patients will be seen at the Newton location.
CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland Jill June says, “Electronic health records at all of our health centers allows patients to option to visit us at Ankeny or any of our four Central Iowa locations.”
The organization is trying to find new jobs within Planned Parenthood for the employees at the Newton location, but it is likely two people will lose their jobs.
Among its services Planned Parenthood provides cancer screenings, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted illnesses, reproductive health services, abortion, and adoption.
