HEALTH CARE: Branstad Rails On “Obamacare”
The U.S. Supreme Court will rule this week on the lawsuit against the Obama administration over the Affordable Health Care Act.
A group of states including Iowa is challenging the constitutionality of the law, particularly the “individual mandate” that requires nearly all Americans to buy health insurance.
The court can strike down just that portion of the law, strike down the whole law or uphold the entire law.
Gov. Terry Branstad is against the law and says, “In addition to the cost, Obamacare is a massive invasion of our individual freedoms. The law creates a government task force in charge of deciding what preventive services are worthwhile, and a government panel in charge of deciding what services seniors can receive.”
While Branstad signed the state onto the lawsuit Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller has filed briefs in support of the law.
