COURT DECISION: Group Must Repay Workers
The Iowa Court of Appeals says a Texas company must pay more than $1 million for underpaying more than two dozen mentally disabled Iowa men.
Henry’s Turkey Service housed the men in deplorable conditions at an old bunkhouse in Atalissa. The men worked at a turkey plant in West Liberty.
Henry’s Turkey Service has been ordered to repay the workers $1.1 million.
The service claimed the operator of the plant, West Liberty Foods, was partially responsible and should share in the repayment.
The court disagreed and upheld that Henry’s Turkey Service was solely responsible for paying back the disabled men.
