POOL BUDGET: Hours Could Be Cut

Kids might have less time to be in the pool, because of a city of Des Moines budget shortfall.

The city wants to cut $60,000 from its 2013 aquatics budget.

To reach that goal the city is considering cutting the hours of operation at its five aquatic centers.

Parents worry the time for swimming is already too limited.  

“The kids want to get their summers going and get out and hit the water as soon as possible. To me I think it’s a little bit late as it is,” says parent Jason Speck.
