WATER ALERT: Providers Ask Customers To Conserve
Central Iowa water providers are asking customers to reduce water usage.
There is now a peak water alert in place for the metro. It’s issued when temperatures are high and there is no rain in sight.
Authorities are asking Iowans to conserve water during the middle of the day, when it’s the hottest.
Officials say Des Moines Water Works customers used 89 million gallons of water Wednesday.
That is just shy of the record 92-million gallons used in June of 2006.
