DEADLY ROLLOVER: One Killed In Accident

One person is dead following a one-car accident on Highway 141 near Grimes Monday morning.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says a 2011 Chevy Aveo was traveling southbound on Highway 141 near the Highway 44 exit just before 7:30 a.m. when it crossed the median into the northbound lanes and entered the east ditch. The vehicle rolled, coming to rest in a corn field.

The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center but was pronounced dead.

Officials are not releasing the name of the person killed until family can be notified.

The investigation into what caused the accident continues.
