LAMBERTI ELECTED: OWI Arrest Doesn’t Affect Vote
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has voted to make Jeff Lamberti its leader.
The former president of the Iowa Senate pleaded guilty to drunken driving last month and Gov. Branstad, who appointed Lamberti to the commission, declined to remove him from the position.
Thursday, members of the commission voted unanimously to elect Lamberti the head of the group.
Lamberti’s term on the commission is set to expire April 30th, 2014.
The commission oversees racing and gaming operations for 18 casinos across the state as well as two greyhound tracks and one horse track.
