An overnight chase ended when Des Moines Police had to use their own cars to stop a speeding teen.

The chase began just before one this morning when an officer clocked a Ford Fusion going nearly 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, without lights, on westbound I-235.

The car reached speeds of 120 mph.

When the car took the 56th Street exit, an officer performed a pit maneuver, pushing the car off the road.

There was only minor damage to the police car and the teen’s car.

Police say the boy had gotten into an argument with his brother earlier in the evening.

He was cited with four traffic violations including driving without a license, and no headlights.  He is also facing one criminal charge of eluding.

The 16 year-old was released to his parents.
