IOWA GAMES: Summer Games Kick Off
The state’s best amateur athletes are in central Iowa to kick off the Iowa Games.
This is the 25th year for the event.
Opening ceremonies were at Jack Trice Stadium, Friday.
It began with a free meal Friday night for the first 2,200, followed by the parade of athletes at 6:45 and the opening ceremony at 7:00.
Fifteen-thousand athletes from across the state will compete in 58-different sporting events.
Many are the same sports we’ll see in two weeks at the London Olympics.
