MURPHY’S LAW: PSU Stall, Fifth Major, Hot Brew

Penn State says it’s not taking down the Paterno statue. I’ll bet that changes. For now, the University is demonstrating the kind of culture that allowed a successful football program to come before everything else, including basic moral decency. Remember, Penn State hired Louis Freeh. His findings are the University’s findings. Still, no one alive has even said he or she is sorry.

The John Deere Classic suddenly turned into the U.S. Open as PGA golfers felt the pressure of winning. It was Iowa’s own Zach Johnson who hit the big shot, perhaps the shot of his career, as Zach wins his “fifth major” for the first time. Hey, if you’re on the board of directors, it looks good to have a win on the resume.

I enjoyed my first Brewfest at Principal Park. It was too hot, and too crowded, but hard to complain too much when there are 450 beers to sample. No one tried them all. I hope.

One thing I’ve never had an interest in doing is RAGBRAI. Am I missing out?

The Dark Knight Rises starts this week. I cannot wait to see that at the Science Center of Iowa’s IMAX.
