TWO ARRESTED: Prostitution Of Missing Girl

Des Moines Police have arrested two individuals involved in a prostitution case.  Atlantic Carter, 22, of Waukegan, IL and Erika Hart, 23, of Honolulu, HI were arrested and charged with pimping and using a juvenile to commit certain offenses, the two were later released on bond. Hart was also charged with possession of marijuana.

Police found the prostitute for hire on the webpage backpage.com; they arranged a meeting and arrested the prostitute at a Des Moines hotel. Further investigation led police to Hart, and Carter in an adjacent room.  The prostitute was found to be a missing 16 year old girl from Portland, OR. She was charged with possession of marijuana and held as a result of her missing person/runaway status.

Des Moines Police will continue to monitor backpage.com and other sites for suspected prostitution activity in Des Moines.
