If you pick up a copy of the latest Time magazine there’s a good chance you’ll see an Iowa connection to the London Olympics on the cover.

The latest issue focuses on the Olympics and features three different covers. On one is swimming sensation Ryan Lochte, but the other two have strong ties to Iowa.

Another cover features Des Moines-native Lolo Jones. The hurdler talks about her failure to win gold in Beijing and the hard road back to the Olympics. At the Olympic trials, Lolo just barely made the Olympic team — taking the final spot  for the 100m hurdles on the U.S. team.

The third cover shows 16-year-old gymnast Gabby Douglas. Though Gabby is from Virginia Beach, she’s spent the last two years living and training in Iowa. She trains with Liang Chow, who coached Shawn Johnson to a gold medal on balance beam and silver medals in the all-around and floor exercise competition in the Beijing Olympics. Gabby won the all-around competition at the U.S. trials, guaranteeing herself a spot on the Olympic team.
