MURPHY’S LAW: Zach is Back, Filer Farewell, Check Your Pants
By Chris Hassel
Zach Johnson fired the low round of the day at The Open Championship. His 66 vaults him into a tie for 5th place heading into the final round. Adam Scott has a four-stroke lead on the field, but Tiger is lurking just 5 back. Zach is 6 off the pace. Tiger and Zach rank 1-2 in the FedEX Cup point standings. Those two are playing better golf than anyone else in the world right now.
Rodney Filer plays the final game in his 15-year professional career, tonight. Filer first signed with the Barnstormers in 1998. He’s nearly 39 years old and he’s still kicking tail.
The State Baseball Tournament now takes 9 days to complete. Softball only takes 5 days, and it has an extra class. I’m sure the I-Cubs would appreciate it if the IHSAA could speed it up a bit. The Cubs are in the midst of a 12-game road-trip.
I went to check out the new Whole Foods in West Des Moines. I loved it. Crowded as heck but you can find some interesting stuff in there. I bought a sushi platter that I had for dinner, last night. Fantastic.
The wife is in Muscatine hanging out with our new niece. It’s the second time she’s been back in two weeks. I have a feeling I won’t be seeing much of her on the weekends from here on out.
The “Check Your Pants” party at Andy’s was a success, Friday night. Andy was extremely jealous of my madras pants and fedora. I probably won’t be able to wear the outfit again until my next trip to the Caribbean.
