ATTEMPTED MURDER: Additional Charges Filed

Additional charges have been filed against an Ottumwa man charged with attempted murder.

The Ottumwa Police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 200 block of North Marion Street.

Officers found three people suffering from injuries sustained after they were struck with a hatchet.

Police arrested 26-year-old Charles Julian Jason Zwer a short distance from the scene.

One victim refused treatment, the second was taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center with moderate injuries, and the third was taken to University Hospitals and Clinics.

Zwer was initially charged with attempted murder, and police later charged him with one count of Willful Injury (Class C felony), Willful Injury (Class D felony), and Going Armed with Intent (Class D felony). He is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $295,000 bond.
