A former Des Moines police officer caught with drugs in his patrol car will not go to jail.

Instead, a judge sentenced 28-year-old Brandon Singleton to one year probation.

Singleton pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of drug possession on Thursday. The charges stem from an April 24th incident when Singleton crashed into a parked car.

Officers investigating the crash found meth and marijuana in Singleton’s squad car. He was fired in May.

Singleton still faces arraignment next month on a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse for an alleged incident in June.
