DOT OUTAGE: Iowa DOT Scheduled Outage

A scheduled electrical outage will affect Iowa DOT services. 

The DOT announced a planned electrical outage in Ames starting at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11th, and ending at 2:00 a.m. Sunday. 

The outage was planned to service upgrades and maintenance. 

The Iowa DOT’s headquarters provides communications and technology services for many of its operations statewide. The outage will affect the following services and systems.  

  • Landline phones (Ames locations only)
  • Fax lines
  • Email (all Iowa DOT email)
  • Website (the department’s entire website and hosted applications)
  • Online electronic forms (If needed, customers may download and print any required forms prior to the outage.)

The Iowa DOT will be issuing driver’s licenses on Saturday, Aug. 11, during normal business hours.

Commercial vehicle operators must plan ahead to obtain oversize load and other permits. The EZ-Permit system and fax line will be unavailable.
