Gabby Douglas is in position to do what Shawn Johnson did not, bring home an all-around gold to Chow’s Gymnastics in West Des Moines.

Despite stepping out of bounds on the floor exercise, Douglas easily advanced to Thursday’s all-around final. Douglas also qualified for the finals on the uneven bars, and the balance beam.

Team USA, the favorite to win gold, breezed into Tuesday’s team finals as well.

But in a shocking turn of events, teammate and all-around favorite Jordan Wieber did not advance to the all-around finals.

Douglas, is the clear-cut favorite to win all-around gold

“I’m very happy right now. Course I had little mistakes here and there but of course they’re totally fixable. And I’m very excited, Team USA is looking awesome,” said Douglas.

Douglas has been training with Liang Chow in West Des Moines for the past two years.
