INFANT DEATH: Police Arrest Two
Two Newton parents have been arrested and charged with the January death of their baby.
Joseph Edward Albert Olea (24) and Chelsea Jo Miller (24) were arrested Monday at their home in Newton.
In January, police began investigating a case of suspected child abuse after an almost 6-month-old child was taken to Blank Children’s Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The child later died as a result of injuries to his head and neck.
At the time of the death, the child was in Olea’s care. Police say Olea used unreasonable force on his son that resulted in his death.
Police say Miller knew of Olea’s violent tendencies and left the child with him.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force injuries of the head and neck and manner of death to be homicide.
Olea is charged with first degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death. Miller is charged with child endangerment resulting in death.
