ARSON ARRESTS: Two Metro Men Charged With Arson

Two men are in custody in Polk County, charged with intentionally setting two fires that destroyed three buildings in June.

On June 20^th, firefighters were called out to rural Madrid on a report of house fire.  The next day they were called back to the same address on a report of a burning barn and corn crib.  All three structures were destroyed.

Wednesday afternoon, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Office arrested 19-year old Meldari Mehmedovic of Clive and 20-year old Anthony Salazar of Des Moines.

The men are charged with two counts of second degree arson.  They’re being held on more than $20,000 bond each.
