ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION: Cedar Rapids Investigation
Police are investigating an alleged attempted abduction in Cedar Rapids.
A Cedar Rapids man says someone tried to abduct his five-year-old son Tuesday night.
The father says he was following his son while he was riding his bike around 5:30 when a white Chevy Astro van pulled up next to the boy.
He says a man got out of the van and grabbed his son and a woman got out and took the bike. The father says he began yelling and the couple took off.
Cedar Rapids police are investigating the incident.
Authorities are also investigation a possible link between this abduction and the case of the two missing Evansdale girls.
Cedar Rapids is about 50 miles from Evansdale, where 9-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook disappeared on July 13th.
The girls were last seen riding their bikes from their grandmother’s home. Their bikes were found at a nearby lake.
Authorities are handling the case as an abduction.
