EAST FIRE: Suspects Cleared, Vendor Pitches In
Des Moines police say the two vehicles wanted in relation to a suspicious fire at the East High School football stadium are cleared in the case.
Witnesses saw two cars leaving the stadium right before a fire sparked in the locker room.
Police say they’ve interviewed the people in those cars and all have been eliminated as suspects.
Now authorities are trying to determine if the East High fire is related to a dumpster fire at Hiatt Middle school Wednesday.
Polk County Crimes Stoppers is offering an award for anyone with information on either of the suspicious fires.
The fire at East High destroyed all the players’ cleats. But the team should have them all replacement by Friday.
An Ankeny sports vendor is offering the team a discounted rate.
Thursday the vendor brought in shoes for the players to try on to find the right size. The vendor will drive up to Minnesota Friday to get 158 new pairs of shoes.
The new shoes will be in the school colors of black and red
The activities director says all the vendors are understanding and are offering a discount on needed equipment.
