Three cab drivers have been robbed in Urbandale and Des Moines in the past two days and now police are investigating whether the cases are linked.

Urbandale police say they were called to 86th Street and Meredith Driver just after 12:30 a.m. Friday on a shooting. The victim, a cab driver, told police he picked up three males in Clive and when he dropped them off at an Urbandale apartment complex he was robbed at gun-point.

The man says as he was fleeing the cab, gunshots were fired. He was not injured in the shooting.

Urbandale police say the three suspects were anywhere between 18 and 30-years-old.

Des Moines police say two robberies happened early Thursday morning. A cab driver says he dropped off three males, all around 15-years-old, at 1612 21st Street and one of the males demanded money. As the driver sped away, three shots were fired at the cab. No one was injured in the shooting.

Police say they think the same three teens were involved in another robbery of a cab driver near the Oakridge neighborhood at 5:47 a.m. A gun was displayed in the robbery but no shots were fired.

Because of the similarity between the robberies in Des Moines Thursday and the robbery in Urbandale Friday, investigators are looking into whether the same people are responsible.

If you have any information on the robberies you’re asked to contact Polk County Crime Stoppers at 223-1400. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
