EAST DONATIONS: Practice Will Start On Time
Less than 48 hours after a fire destroyed their locker room and most of their equipment, East High School has received more than $26,000 in donations.
Tuesday night’s fire at Williams Stadium destroyed football pads and jerseys, as well as practice equipment.
After the donations however, Monday’s first practice doesn’t seem so daunting.
Iowa schools and businesses have dropped off boxes of practice pants, jerseys, footballs and even water bottles.
Athletic officials say just seeing all these donations has helped with team morale.
The activities director says they had planned for everything to be covered by insurance, but with these donations they can cancel some of those orders.
Donations will also help the team start practice on time this season.
