IOWA OLYMPIAN: Uhl Finishes 13th in 10,000

Native-Iowan Lisa Uhl competed Friday on the track in the 2012 London Olympics in the 10,000 meters.

Uhl finished third among the Americans and 13th overall with a time of 31:12:80.  Amy Hastings led the U.S. runners in 11th with a time of 31:10 and Janet Bawcom finished 12th overall. 

Tirunesha Dibaba of Ethiopia won the race in 30:20.

Uhl, grew up in Ft. Dodge and broke records while running for Iowa State University.

During her senior season at Iowa State in 2008 Uhl, who was Lisa Koll then, broke the 10,000 meter collegiate record twice. Her best time came at the Stanford Invitational, finishing with a 31:18.07. She is one of only four athletes to win NCAA championships in the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters.

Uhl now lives and trains in Oregon.
