    •  Elliott Sadler dethroned 3-time defending champ Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at the Iowa Speedway.  He said his Dad gave him advice before coming to Iowa, “go out there and kick their butts.”  He did.

    • Great race for 2 local drivers at the Nationwide US Cellular 250. Des Moines native Michael Annett finishes 4th, 19-year-old Grimes native Brett Moffitt takes 9th.  Moffitt’s debut won’t be forgotten.

    • The Iowa Cubs won a Game!!!!!  Praise the Lord!!!  They’re still 29 games under .500…

  • Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all-time.  Whether you like him or not he deserves his due.  Unbelievable talent like we’ve never seen in history.  22 medals, and he’s only 27 years old.  I’m jealous.

    • Robert Gallery retired from the NFL.  People label him as a ‘bust.’  I don’t.  8 year starters aren’t ‘busts.’  Now, I don’t think he lived up to #2 draft pick expectations, but let’s be honest, he played for the Raiders.  He had 4 head coaches in 5 years.  If  ANY other team drafts Gallery I think he has a better career. At 31 years old I hope he saved his money.

  • I never understand why people want to have full-fledged arguments on twitter.  Here’s some sample tweets that 1 of my followers sent me after I said the 1992 Dream Team is better than the current ‘Dream Team.’

@johnsears I doubt the 1992 squad would beat this yr’s Spain (if all the players were healthy) by double digits.

@johnsears He (Jordan) also never reached the Finals until 1991 when the Bulls finally got past Detroit. He would’ve been traded in today’s NBA.

@johnsears Jordan and Pippen couldn’t guard a 6’8 forward (Linas Kleiza) with 3 pt ability and who attacks the rim. That’s like a white Kobe.

@johnsears Ppl need to stop getting hung up on Jordan. He wasn’t anything when he went to the Wizards. #noplayoffs

@johnsears Btw, Jordan was in his prime in 86′ when he dropped 63 on the Celtics in a loss. He was so good he ran out Doug Collins.

@johnsears Also, do you think Barkley, Mullin or Malone could guard Kleiza on the 3-pt line? NOPE
