BARS RESULTS: Douglas Competes In Event Finals

West Des Moines-trained gymnast, Gabby Douglas, competed on the uneven bars Monday in the individual event final at the 2012 London Olympics.

Gabby already has two gold medals. The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team won team gold and Gabby took the all-around gold last week with a stellar performance.

Out of eight competitors in the event, Gabby finished last with a score of 14.900. Aliya Mustafina of Russia took the gold, He Kexin of China won the silver, and Beth Tweddle of Great Britain took bronze.

Gabby still has another chance at gold. She’ll compete in the individual event final on balance beam Tuesday.

Gabby plans to stay in London after her competition is over to participate in the closing ceremonies, but Coach Liang Chow will return to West Des Moines Wednesday to get back to work.
