EAST FOOTBALL: Fire Doesn’t Slow Team Down
A fire at Williams Stadium isn’t holding back the East High football team from starting practice Monday.
The team was overrun with support following the fire that destroyed football pads, jerseys and practice equipment.
Since Tuesday, more than $26,000 in donations have rolled in to the football program. Area high schools and businesses have dropped off boxes of practice pants, jerseys and footballs.
The school district’s insurance policy should cover the losses from the fire.
Police are still trying to find out who started the fire.
