ROMNEY IN IOWA: Presidential Candidate Visits Iowa
The Des Moines Register will hold its annual political soap box at the State Fair. You might remember presidential candidate Mitt Romney speaking there last year.
This year the Register says it has invited both Romney and President Obama. Neither has responded yet.
While Romney isn’t slated to be at the State Fair, he will be in the metro this week. He’s holding two events. A private fundraiser is being held at Glen Oaks in West Des Moines Tuesday night.
On Wednesday morning, he’ll be at Central Campus in Des Moines. That event begins at 8:00 and is open to the public.
Romney last visited Iowa a month ago, when he stopped in Council Bluffs.
Governor brans tad says he does not plan to attend either Romney event.
He’s also staying mum on Romney’s potential running mates. He says, “It’s very difficult to speculate in a situation like that, I would say I’ve always been partial to governors because the executive experience you have as governor.”
Branstad adds he doesn’t want to “name names” because he might leave someone good off the list.
