AMES CHIEF: Bayouth Named Fire Chief

The city of Ames has named its new Fire Chief and it’s a man who has served with the department since 2007.

Wednesday, the city announced Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Bayouth has been promoted to the Chief position.  Bayouth was chosen from nearly 50 applicants for the position.

Ames City Manager Steve Schainker said, “I am confident that Shawn’s experience and dedication to ensuring public health and safety will contribute to our goal of providing all Ames residents with exceptional service at the best price.”

Bayouth came to Ames from Avon, Colorado where he was a Battalion Chief for the Eagle River Fire Protection District.
