HEALTH CARE: Maytag Retirees Challenge Changes

More than 3,000 Maytag retirees still must pay for their health benefits.

In 2008, Whirlpool changed the benefits package for retirees when it purchased Maytag, eliminating free health care.  The union representing the retirees challenged the changes in court.  After losing in district court, they appealed.

Tuesday, the union’s appeal was denied.
