MURPHY’S LAW: Honey Badger, Eastside Night, Photo Album
- I’m not sure what Tyrann Mathieu did to get kicked off LSU, but when the coach of the nation’s #1 football team boots his best player, it can’t be good.
- I’ll miss Brett Musburger saying “Honey Badger” 57 times in one game.
- Something tells me LSU will be okay.
- Has there ever been better weather for the first day of the fair?
- A high school football player told me his coach warned the entire team to stay away from Eastside Night at the fair.
- I’ll be at the fair Sunday. I will politically profile each person who walks up to cast his/her kernel. I generally hit about 80%, but love it when I’m absolutely certain, and the person surprises me. Stereotype-buster.
- Just watched Ricky Stanzi. Chiefs didn’t give The Manzi many opportunities, but Stanzi didn’t do much with those he had. He looked like a back-up.
- The Olympics found its kryptonite: NFL. Olympics still dominated, but even pre-season games cut into NBC’s blockbuster ratings.
- In the time it takes you to read this sentence, Usain Bolt just ran a hundred meters. (Actually, he only ran 50 meters. You read really fast!)
- Ashton Eaton is the “World’s Greatest Athlete”, yet most people have no idea who he is.
- Our long national nightmare is over. Dwight Howard was traded to the Lakers.
- The Knoxville Nationals is the most under-covered sporting event in our state.
- I went roller skating Wednesday for the first time in decades. I didn’t try the limbo, or the couples skate.
- I’m the Hawkeye running back of airplane travel. I just can’t fly without bad luck. Happened again on the way back from Florida. I had picked my kids up from their grandparents. Finally made it home at 1 a.m.
- Here’s a photo album of the 72-hour trip:

When I was a kid, my big sister seemed mean to me. Turns out she’s as sweet as anyone I’ve ever known. I wish I could see her more.

My parents live near The Villages–a huge retirement community in Florida. I love this picture. It’s a gal at Barnes & Noble trying teaching these ladies how to use a Nook.

Cade and Colin at the community pool. They had it to themselves. I don’t get it. The pool was full of kids back in the day.

Cade and Colin excited to be on a plane headed back to Iowa! Little did they know, that plane would head back to the gate, and begin another travel nightmare.
