ZOO CONTRACT: Fort Dodge Council Concerns
The Fort Dodge city council is discussing conditions at a local zoo at its Monday night meeting.
The city and a private non-profit agreed on a contract for Oleson Park Zoo in 2008.
The zoo holds about two dozen different types of animals. But recently some citizens became concerned about the care of the zoo animals following the death of two foxes in July.
Monday night the city will go over the 2008 contract.
City leaders say the USDA is in charge of inspecting how the animals are cared for.
Monday night’s meeting is just a discussion, no action is expected.
