BALLPARK UPDATE: City Council Approves Upgrade
The home of the I-Cubs is getting a $1 million facelift.
The Des Moines City Council unanimously approved financing a million-dollar upgrade to Principal Park.
The upgrades include a new visitor’s locker room, new weight room, renovated umpire facilities and a new batting tunnel.
Work is expected to begin once the current season ends.
The stadium also needs improvements to meet the requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act. That upgrade will cost another million-dollars. The council decided to take that matter up at a later date.
